Biography
Madeleine Corrigan is a cellist, educator, and writer based in Boston, Massachusetts, and Long Island, New York. Throughout her musical career, she has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Capital One Hall, and Mechanics Hall.
Madeleine served as the principal cellist of the American University Symphony Orchestra (AUSO) for three years under the direction of Matthew Brown. A fervent collaborator, Madeleine has played in a variety of ensembles including a piano, voice, and cello trio whose summer concert series “Melodic Heritage” performed on tour across two states. She is also an experienced pit musician, performing in productions of Miss You Like Hell, Too Much Unhappy, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Into the Woods, Spring Awakening, Alice By Heart, and Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812.

Madeleine is the recipient of the Koster Foundation Summer Study Grant in 2022 and 2024, and the 2023 winner of American University’s “Outstanding Achievement in the Arts” Award. She is also the winner of the American University 2024 Concerto and Aria Competition and had the incredible opportunity to perform the first and second movements of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with the AUSO.
Madeleine has studied with exceptional cellists including Nancy Snider, Si-Yan Darren Li, and Patrice Jackson.
Madeleine's musical journey is shaped by her passion for teaching. She began as an Assistant Cello Teacher at the Northport High School Summer S.M.A.R.T. Program, working with beginner cellists and bassists. From 2022 to 2024 she served as the Adjunct Cello Teacher and Director of the After School Strings Program at the Washington Waldorf School in Bethesda, Maryland, where she had the chance to work with her wonderfully talented 4th-8th grade students. Her private studio consisted of 4th-6th grade cellists ranging from beginner to intermediate levels.

When not performing or practicing, Madeleine loves to cook, make jewelry, and journal!
